This program targets local adult professionals who may be new to the area or to their position or industry sector. The program provides these individuals with the tools to explore their leadership skills, connect with Wake Forest’s top influencers, and discover diverse avenues to contribute to, and make a difference in, their community.
Participants meet once a month for nine months of high-level interactive sessions, panel discussions and informal Q&A forums. They receive in-depth instruction on such subjects as the town’s history and government structure, the economic development landscape, the local educational arena, and the ins and outs of volunteerism, among other topics. In addition, the curriculum is supplemented with on-site tours to a variety of area businesses, hands-on activities and simulations, and is capped off with a group philanthropic project benefiting a local non-profit institution.
At the conclusion of the Leadership Wake Forest program, participants should have:
Enhanced their knowledge of, and commitment to, the Wake Forest area;
Developed leadership skills and formed beneficial professional relationships;
Have a deeper understanding of the forces and trends affecting the community’s development, and the importance of enhanced cooperation among local businesses in advancing the town’s political, cultural and economic agenda; and,
Embraced the opportunity to expand their involvement in community affairs and be open to exploring and assuming new leadership responsibilities.
The Leadership Wake Forest program is tuition-based. The current cost for each academic year, which begins in September, is $500.00 for Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce members and $600.00 for non-members. Scholarships are also available to defray tuition expenses. The :2018-2019 Leadership Wake Forest application isnow available. Only 24 spots will be available for the upcoming class. Applications will be due by September 7, 2018.
